Overview

AZEM OJT strengthens young job seekers’ employability and supports their transition into work through a combined package of soft skills development, career guidance, and on-the-job-vocational training. The program delivers interactive, practitioner-led training that develops workplace competencies such as communication, teamwork, work ethics, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

AZEM OJT follows a structured, demand-driven methodology that supports young job seekers from enrollment to workplace placement. The program starts with outreach and registration, followed by selection to ensure participants meet the program criteria and are matched to appropriate pathways. Selected participants then complete employability training based on BDC’s Maharat methodology, delivered through interactive, practitioner-led sessions that strengthen workplace behaviors and core competencies.

After the training phase, AZEM OJT facilitates on-the-job vocational training placements with local companies, based on employer needs and participants’ profiles and preferences.

To strengthen sustainability for both youth and employers, the program also supports SMEs and participating companies through mechanisms that reduce the cost of onboarding and employment, including support toward employee salaries during the initial employment period, helping businesses absorb new hires and maintain jobs beyond the project timeframe.
