U.S. Embassy, Hashemite University and the Business Development Center Launch the First University Career Center in Jordan

The U.S. Embassy in Jordan is pleased to announce the launch of the first campus-based career-counseling center in Jordan at the Hashemite University (HU).  The HU Career Center, the first of its kind on a Jordanian university campus, will serve students as they prepare for their professional pursuits upon graduation.

This pilot project, funded by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy, in partnership with the Business Development Center (BDC), will include professional empowerment training, mentoring, industry speakers and an internship and job-shadowing component.  U.S.-based career counseling expert, Dr. Arnold Bell of North Carolina State University, will provide training and technical support to the program.

It is expected that 100 students and faculty will participate in this program over the next 6 months, learning how to turn their university studies into career opportunities.

This program aims to develop the critical partnership between academia and the business sector, leading to a permanent career counseling presence at the Hashemite University. The long-term goal is to bring career counseling to every university campus in Jordan. Hashemite University is leading by example.
