BDC is the exclusive service provider of the empretec based program Entrepreneurship Training Workshop, a capacity-building program created by Harvard professor David McLelland and affiliated to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The program supports and encourages entrepreneurs to build SMEs and in doing so contributes to the development of an open entrepreneurial culture and a robust private sector. ETW endeavors to inspire entrepreneurs to establish, nurture and develop their business by offering crucial training and other forms of support to actual and potential entrepreneurs.
ETW revolves around five main areas:
1-Developing entrepreneurial behaviors
2-Creating a network of EMPRETECOs
3-Building integrated capacities
5-Facilitating Access to Finance
The ETW is an opportunity for the participants to become more familiar with the behavioral competencies of successful entrepreneurs, strengthen and enhance those behaviors in themselves, and finally be able to apply the behaviors in their own businesses. Participants are selected on the basis of written applications and one-hour focused interviews, during which they are encouraged to focus on their roles as entrepreneurs and critically examine their personal strengths and weaknesses.
